Chart of accounts & journal
Organize accounting categories and inspect the entries created by business activity.
Understand account categories
Yesri creates default accounts when a business is set up. Review the existing list before adding another category with a similar purpose.
| Type | Typical purpose |
|---|---|
| Assets | Cash, bank balances, receivables, and inventory. |
| Liabilities | Supplier amounts owed and other obligations. |
| Equity | Owner capital and related adjustments. |
| Revenue | Sales, services, and other business income. |
| Expenses | Purchases and operating-cost categories. |
Create an account
- 1
Open Chart of Accounts.
Choose Accounts on the dashboard, then Create Account.
- 2
Set code and name.
Enter an unused Account Code and a clear Account Name. Keep your numbering consistent with the existing chart.
- 3
Choose Account Type.
Select Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Revenue, or Expense as appropriate for the category.
- 4
Save.
Find the account in the list. Expense-type accounts can be selected when recording expenses.
Inspect journal entries
- 1
Open Journal Entries.
Use the Journal Entries action from Chart of Accounts.
- 2
Choose an entry to review.
Read its date, description, source, accounts, and debit/credit lines.
- 3
Compare with the source.
Find the corresponding sale, bill, payment, or expense. Investigate a mismatch from that record before making new entries.
Remove an unused category carefully
Where the delete action is available, read the account-deletion confirmation before continuing. Keep system accounts and accounts referenced by transactions. If you are unsure how a category is used, check its entries and ask your bookkeeper before deleting it.
